Well, this is pretty exciting.
Their midwife duties over, The Quietus have handed custody of ‘genius toddler’ Will Doyle – pka East India Youth – to Stolen Recordings, who will release his debut album in early 2014, sandwiched between two soon-to-be-announced singles and fuck it, I’m just going to quote from the press release:
“East India Youth’s outstanding debut EP ‘Hostel’ (the only release to date) has already intrigued many and earned plaudits from all directions – illustrating as it does a remarkable mastery of genres and imaginative song structures combined with a solid pop sensibility and the introduction of a significant new voice. It was released on The Quietus Phonographic Corporation label, set up expressly in order to release the EP immediately after the Quietus’ John Doran first heard it, having been handed a CDR at a gig by Will.”
Being released by The Quietus is like being born – in a villa on the north west coast of Mallorca – as sole heir to an unfeasibly large fortune. One could not hope for a better start to life. Luke and John fought for Will and the ‘Hostel’ EP like it was a fight for their lives and it is a debt we can never repay
