Between 1983–1987, the car manufacturer Audi recalled several versions of the Audi 5000 model, which were associated with reported incidents of sudden unintended acceleration linked to six deaths and 700 accidents.

Rappers – being cultural magpies – took the words as a way to say goodbye to each other:
“Audi 5000″… “5000, G”… “I’m Audi”… “I’m 5000″…. “Peace and I’m Audi”.

In 2001, walking away after many years of abuse at the hands of a bankrupted, alcoholic, drug-addled, sociopathic* boss, Andy wanted a name for his business that would reference saying goodbye to a bad thing. Figuring Audi would have a problem with ‘Audi 5000 Ltd’, he went with 5000.
