I’m giving a 90 minute talk (+30 minute Q&A) on Tour Management at the All Years Leaving Festival, Hare & Hounds Birmingham, Saturday 24 October. Info here, and link to combined lecture + festival ticket. East India Youth will perform at midnight, upstairs in the main room.

If you’re an artist, you’re going on tour and you can’t afford a tour manager, this will be useful. If you’re a manager, and you’re taking your artist on tour and can’t afford a tour manager, this will be useful. If you like to hear stories of logistical diasters, this will be useful.

Aside from lecturing around the UK and Europe, I’m also delivering Tour Talks; conversations, lectures and Q&As when I’m actually touring. Many of those who want to learn about the live industry aren’t necessarily keen on an academic environment, so I’m using the venues I’m working in as lecture halls, and inviting bands, managers, students, members of the public… anyone who’s interested in Tour Management, Venue Management, The International Festival Market or Artist Management to come down for a crash course in whatever topic we’ve agreed to discuss. Andy has again partnered with MusicTank at Westminster University to deliver a one day course on Tour Management, 20 April 2015

Useful for:
• Those contemplating a career as tour manager
• Artists, musicians and managers who have to take on tour management responsibilities or need the knowledge to successfully appoint a tour manager

At the grassroots level a Tour Manager may be required to fulfil the roles of Production Manager, Driver, Merch Seller, FOH Engineer, Monitor Engineer, Lighting Engineer, Backline Tech, Travel Agent, Security, Parent and Therapist. On five hours sleep per night

Reprising his 2011 series of lectures for MusicTank at Westminster, Andy Inglis returns, on Monday 27th February – and every Monday in March – for more considered opinion, debate, and swearing.

Covering everything from ticketing, festivals, overseas markets, touring, funding, venue management, marketing, promotion and health and safety, and festivals, Inglis (why am I referring to myself in the third person here?) has forged twenty-two years experience in the fire of the UK and Norwegian music industries, but time has not diminished his passion/anger nor blunted his tongue. In fact, since vowing to never open another venue, he feels more free than ever to put the boot in wherever necessary and, of course, sing the praises of those who are customer-service-minded, and who seek to improve conditions among the lower reaches of the musical landscape.
